Created in the 1950’, the Estate has been a family domain for three generations. Andre, Michel started. Today it’s Nicolas who is in charge of the vines and makes his wines with passion and know-how.
The Estate spreads from Davayé to St Amour over 14 hectares. The heart of the vineyard is situated in Pouilly, which hosts the king of the Maconnais: the Pouilly Fuissé AOC. The vines enjoy the south influence, which allows them to reach excellent maturity.
The Chardonnay, takes advantage of a clay and limestone soil to release white wines that are both crisp and round.
The vines are carefully worked by respecting tradition and quality. The vines work (ploughing, crop-covering . . .) is adapted to the soil, the grape variety, so as to get beautiful grapes and hence a successful wine-making. The Gamay is grown on sand granitic soils for the Northern Beaujolais plots that are just next to Burgundy.
As this grape is highly sensitive to the climatic conditions. Its growing requires extra care. Yet Nicolas has succeeded in expressing all its qualities to produce wines both enjoyable and fruity, rich and with a beautiful, dark colour: our wines have a lot more style than what Beaujolais is usually associated with.
The wines are made on the estate in Pouilly, inside the underground cellar. The grapes are picked only by hand. Each plot is vinified separately in order to preserve the integrity of the terroir as much as possible.
After the pressing, the wines are carefully settles. Then, they are either put in stainless steel tank and thermo-regulated stocks vats, or oak barrels, according to the type of wine (fruity or powerful and complex) to make their fermentation process. The ageing continues on fine lees.
For red wines, the grapes are hand-picked in crates, sorted out on a vibration conveyor. Then, there are put in vats for 14 to 20 days with temperature control, pumping over and regular punching of the cap.
Wines are regularly analysed, tastes, and each bottling is prepared with care by an oenologist. Nicolas pays attention to each detail, to keep or even optimise the regular quality of his wines, which is the best expression of the know-how of our estate.
